Find your way to the Dick Dei Track Classic with ease. This page provides clear directions, maps, and helpful travel tips to get you to the venue smoothly—whether you’re arriving with a team bus, as a spectator, or for the first time.

We’ve included key details to help you plan ahead, from parking information to entrance locations, so you can spend less time navigating and more time enjoying the meet.

  • Use these directions if traveling from Pennsylvania and Highlands (Triadelphia, WV) Hotels

    • As you enter into West Virginia, you will pass a rest area, truck stop and the Highlands Shopping Mall.  This is the beginning to the 2 Mile Hill descend.

    • Once at the bottom of 2 Mile Hill you will begin to see signs for Exit 5 (US 40, Elm Grove / WV-88 S / Triadelphia)

    • Take Exit 5, the exit ramp is fairly short.  If you reach the I-70 West / I-470 West Split, you went too off.  If you miss Exit 5, continue on I-70 West to the next exit, Washington Avenue.  

    • Once at the bottom of Exit 5, turn left.  Once through the light, remain in the right lane.

    • You will remain in the right lane for less than 2 minutes.

    • At the next major intersection, turn Right onto National Road / US - 40.  A McDonald's is on the left hand side of this intersection.

    • You will pass by smaller businesses and buildings, as you approach the next light (United National Bank on the left side), continue straight through this light.

    • Once through the light you will pass some restaurants, gas stations and pass under I-70.

    • At the very next light continue straight and begin to enter the right lane.  You will see a transition from businesses to neighborhoods.  You will be in the right lane for approximately 1 mile.  

    • You will see a giant statue on your right and the entrance to Wheeling Park is on your right.  Turn right into Wheeling Park.  If you reach the next traffic light, you went too far and need to turnaround.  

    • Once in Wheeling Park, you will see the golf course on your right and eventually the White Palace Ballroom, continue straight to the very next stop sign.

    • At the stop sign, turn right (sign says right to Wheeling Park High School), now you are beginning to climb the hill.

    • As the hill begins to incline, you will see Wheeling Park's Pool on the right.

    • Continue to climb the hill and the bus driver will need to swing the bus wide to continue the climb up the hill.

    • The road will continue, go through an elevated S Turn.  Eventually you will see Wheeling Park's Tennis Courts on your right and a shelter on your left, that is on a hill.  Continue to follow the road.

    • Once on the front end of the shelter, look to your right and you can see the Wheeling Park HS across the hill.

    • Once past the shelter, you will see soccer fields on your left.

    • Continue past the fields and at the stop sign, turn right.

    • As you approach the school, which is the south end you will see the baseball field and gate.  Continue to drive past the front of the school, you will see teacher parking lot on your right.  Go to the very next gate on the same side of the school, which is the north end.

    • Enter the north gate and road will lead you to the back parking lot.  

    • When looking at the back parking lot, you will see a road at the back end of the back parking lot.  Have the bus driver go down that hill.

    • You will reach a little ticket booth, the person at the gate will allow you to offload the kids.

    • The bus driver will drive back up the hill, turn right, where a parking attendant will direct the bus to the front parking lot.  

       

  • NOTE: THIS IS HEAVILY PATROLED FOR SPEEDING AND DISTRACTED DRIVING

    • At the I-70E / I-470 Split, take I-470 (think the sign says Wheeling / Bellaire).  Watch your speed on I-470, Ohio Highway Patrol targets this area for speeders.

    • IF STAYING ON I-70, YOU WILL CROSS THE OHIO RIVER AND ENTER WEST VIRGINIA.

    • Continue on I-470 and eventually go down a hill and see a bridge.

    • Continue over the bridge into WV.

    • You will continue to go past the first exit in WV and climb the hill.

    • Once you reach the peak of the hill, you will see an exit for Bethlehem (do not speed going down the hill, Bethlehem and WV State Police target this area)

    • Once you begin going down the hill, I-470 ends and merges with I-70E. 

    • Take the very first exit, Exit 5 (Elm Grove) as I-470 / I-70 combine, this comes quick.

    • At the bottom of the exit ramp, you want to go the stop sign and turn left.  DO NOT TURN RIGHT, TAKES YOU ON US-40 TOWARDS PENNSYLVANIA.

    • Once through the stop sign, immediately get into the right lane.

    • At the next major intersection, turn Right onto National Road / US - 40.  A McDonald's is on the left hand side of this intersection.

  • Route 7 is under construction just south of Mingo Junction with lane restrictions. 

    • Once you enter into Martins Ferry, you will be going through traffic lights.  You will see a Wendy's and Kroger in a shopping plaza at a light, continue straight through that light.

    • Once through that light, immediately get into the right lane.

    • Once in the right lane, you will see an exit sign for Wheeling / Bridgeport (I-70, US-40 and US-250) 1/2 mile.

    • Take the Wheeling Bridgeport exit and stay in the left lane after exiting.

    • At the stop sign at the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight and remain in the left lane.

    • At the very next light, turn left.

    • After turning left, you will go over a bridge into WV and onto Wheeling Island.

    • Once over the bridge, you will see a pool on your left, gas station / KFC / Burger King on your right.

    • Continue straight, you will be on Wheeling Island for no less than 1/2 mile.

    • You will see an on ramp to I-70 East that takes you up onto the Fort Henry Bridge.

    • Take the on ramp and once on I-70 East, get immediately in the left lane prior to the tunnel (this comes pretty quick)  Signs also indicate I-70 East Left Lane Only.

    • Continue through the Wheeling Tunnel / I-70 East.

    • You will pass exits 2A and 2B, once past Exit 2B (Washington Avenue), you will see an exit sign for Exit 4 Elm Grove (US-40), 2 miles.

    • Stay in the right lane, you will pass a weigh station and just beyond the weigh station is Exit 4 Elm Grove, take this exit.

    • As you come off of the exit ramp, the road splits, turn left (you will see a sign indicating Wheeling Park to your left)

    • At the stop sign, turn left, this will put you on National Road.

    • At the next light, continue straight, once through the light, enter the right lane.

    • Entrance to Wheeling Park is approximately 1/2 mile once through this light.

    • You will see a giant statue on your right and the entrance to Wheeling Park is on your right.  Turn right into Wheeling Park.  If you reach the next traffic light, you went too far and need to turnaround.  

    • Once in Wheeling Park, you will see the golf course on your right and eventually the White Palace Ballroom, continue straight to the very next stop sign.
